6/6/2010 9:46:21 PM EDT With a 50 yard zero, you are very close to point of impact = point of aim at distances up to 250 yards. However, for unknown distances beyond 250 yards where the ACOG is supposed to be superior, I seriously question the overwhelming superiority of the ACOG for the following reasons: 1. There is not always a 19″ chest to range the reticle with. Even when there is a chest to range on, distance estimation is not very precise using this method. 2. If your range estimate is off even by 50 yards, the shot will be way off. 3. Most people do not practice hitting targets at unknown ranges beyond 250yds. 4. Most people are not using the exact ammo the reticle on their ACOG is set up for. 5. Most field positions do not give the positional stability required for long range work. 6. At extreme distance, elevation is not the only challenge. Wind also needs to be compensated for. The ACOG does not deal with windage. I would bet that the ACOG vs. an Aimpoint with kentucky windage and elevation would be close in real world performance for the majority of shooters. FFMedic<br>
